Enlightened is sponsoring a jewellery design competition for 2008-2009. The designs must incorporate their Passion Topaz® gemstone collection.

There are two categories to the competition: Basic Passion and Passion De Luxe. Basic Passion is for entrees with classic touch while Passion De Luxe is for experimental designs.

Pre-deadline is on November 30 and the final deadline is on December 31st.

Interested designers can simply upload a computer generated or hand-drawn designs at their website.

At stake is a total of 6,000 Euros, with 3,000 euros going to the over-all winner and 1,000 euro for category winners. › Continue reading

Cooper-Hewitt gives out design awards every year and this year’s winner was announced on October 23 at the National Design Awards gala in New York City. There are 276 entries for the Design Award and here’s the top nominated entries; Zon Hearing Aid, Design Observer, Bennington Bookmarks, Inhabitat, Zip tie ring, Magno - wooden radio wr01/2bipod, JAVN Floor Design and Strida 5.0 bicycle.
